The activities that are carried out both in the fishing industry and in the markets and points of sale generate a series of residues that, if not correctly managed, end up in our seas and oceans, causing serious damage to the marine environment and its diversity. Both the SDGs and the European Green Pact invite us to approach this environmental problem from a holistic and multisectoral approach that undoubtedly demands public-private collaboration.

The Technological Platforms seek to promote this type of collaboration in order to encourage technological development and business competitiveness through the creation of meeting forums, the search for synergies between all companies, organizations, technology centers, universities and administrations. involved and the creation of alliances.

In this thematic panel, which will be moderated by Domenec Espriu (Director of the State Research Agency), the Technological Platforms PTEPA, PACKNET and PROTECMA will present examples of recent success stories that show the efforts made to achieve circularity and that include prevention , recycling and recovery of waste generated by fishing activity in ports, markets and points of sale that are being carried out within the framework of these collaborations. In addition, the event will have the participation of the General Secretariat of Fisheries (MAPA) that will present the Network of Knowledge Spaces as catalytic instruments for progress towards a blue economy.
