Guest Country 2018: Argentina

Argentina was the guest country of the 7th edition of Transfiere. As such, the Argentinian R&D&i ecosystem took part in the different activity areas of the Forum (networking, institutional agenda, official events in the Forum, conference programme, among others).

Argentina is positioned at the forefront of different types of science, technology and Innovation, and its research and science education center is one of the ten best centers of the world.

Additionally, it is important to remark the Bilateral Scientific and Technology Cooperation Programme between Spain and Argentina, that started in 2010, whose main objective is to promote the scientific and technology cooperation between Spanish and Argentinian scientists, encouraging the knowledge, education and development of human resources and technology transfer. They are working together in new research projects.

Why was Argentina´s presence important for Transfiere?

The economy of Argentina is the second most developed and important of South America.
Its technological and scientific capacity has allowed it to design, produce and export satellites, build nuclear reactors and be the first producer of software, aircraft, among other things, being the Ibero-American country with the highest number of Nobel prizes in science.
The Government of Argentina, along with Universities, companies, and national and international organizations, constitutes a set of policies, plans and programmes oriented towards research, development, and innovation (R + D + i), as well as scientific and technological infrastructures and facilities. A clear example of these strategic plans is Argentina Innovadora 2020.

The country, according to 2018 data, invests 0.49% of its GDP in research and development.
It should be noted that Transfiere went international in the first edition of Transfiere Argentina, the Ibero-American Forum of Technology and Innovation, with Fundación Global (an independent and non-profit organization that integrates more than 150 leading companies and professionals from the Province of Buenos Aires) as the entity responsible for exporting this forum to the Latin American country.
Transfiere Argentina was held on September 27 and 28, 2018 in Mar de Plata with the support of the Federal Investment Council (CFI) and the Government of the province of Buenos Aires.
