Guest Country 2015: Israel

Israel was the guest country of the 4th edition of Transfiere. As such, the Israeli R&D&i ecosystem took part in the different activity areas of the Forum (networking, institutional agenda, official events in the Forum, conference programme, among others).

Israel is positioned at the forefront of different types of science, technology, and innovation. It has been recognized as one of the most vibrant economies in the world for years now.

Additionally, in 2007 Israel was invited to join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, promoting cooperation between countries acceding democratic principles and the export of free-market economies.

Why was Israel’s presence important for Transfiere?

Israel is considered the most advanced country in Western Asia and the Middle East in economic and industrial development.
Since 1995, Israel is a member of the Mediterranean Dialogue, fostering cooperation between seven countries, including Spain.
Israel ranks third position in Spending on Research and Development and eighth place in technology preparation.

Israel has the second-largest number of startup companies in the world and the seventeenth country in technological achievements on the Nation Master list of countries in the world by economic standards.
Israel is a world leader in water conservation and geothermal energy. Its development of cutting-edge technologies in Software, Communications and Life Sciences has been compared to Silicon Valley.
