Transfiere 2023 hosts 16 leading Nordic innovation companies and organisations to create synergies with the international ecosystem

Finland and Sweden are participating in Transfiere, the European Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation, with a delegation of 16 companies and innovation-driving organisations that will have the opportunity to share success stories and establish synergies with the rest of the international R&D&I ecosystem taking part at the event

The meeting will host leading connectivity and communication firms such as Ericsson and Nokia, academic research centres such as the universities of Helsinki and Umeå and consultancies driving innovation and digital transformation of companies such as Gofore, Sofigate and IoT Sweden. Transfiere will hold its twelfth edition on 15, 16 and 17 February at FYCMA (Trade Fair and Congress Centre of Malaga)

Malaga, 27 January 2023 – Finland and Sweden are closing their participation in the twelfth edition of Transfiere, the European Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation, which will have a delegation of 16 Nordic innovation-driving companies and organisations which will have the opportunity to share success stories and establish synergies with the rest of the international R&D&I ecosystem taking part at the Forum. Both countries will have an exclusive exhibition space at the meeting, as well as broad participation in the content programme, which will focus part of its agenda on promoting the model and strategies carried out by the two territories to boost science and technology as the basis for a new, more sustainable era.

Thus, among the organisations participating at Transfiere, there will be leading connectivity and communication firms such as Ericsson and Nokia, academic research centres such as the universities of Helsinki and Umeå and consultancies driving the technological and digital transformation of companies such as Gofore, Sofigate and IoT Sweden. Transfiere will hold its twelfth edition on 15,16 and 17 February at FYCMA (Trade Fair and Congress Centre of Malaga).

In addition, the Nordic delegation will bring together research centres such as the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke); the Swedish Environmental Research Institute – IVL, and RISE – Research Institute of Sweden. Moreover, the Technical Research Centre of Finland VTT will present solutions for energy resilience in cities, sustainable buildings and intelligent transport systems. Also, IoT Sweden will showcase its strategy to boost the ‘internet of things’ in the public sector and Sensative its systems to monitor data more efficiently. In the energy field, Kone Ibérica will advance opportunities for integral savings in buildings, while Alfa Laval will share its energy production and storage solutions. Likewise, Oulu Innovation Alliance and Region Västerbotten will bring to Transfiere their programmes to promote R&D&I, the creation of innovative ecosystems and the development of health and telemedicine and green hydrogen in their respective regions.

Finland and Sweden will also have a prominent role in the content programme of Transfiere 2023 through the segment ‘The Nordic Way: innovation and digitisation for sustainable societies’. Within this section, Sweden will present its journey towards one of the most connected and digital societies in Europe with a panel represented by the public sector, private sector and academia to showcase Sweden’s successful model of innovation and digitisation ecosystem. Finland, in turn, will provide examples of both sustainable innovations and ethical and cross-cutting digitisation, whereby the country has achieved a high level of transparency and environmental friendliness. The Nordic thematic block will be attended by Nina Vaskunlahti, Under-Secretary of State for International Trade at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and a representative of the Government of Sweden.

E-Health and Smart Cities

The institutional agenda of the Forum will also promote the interaction of the Nordic delegations with the national R&D&I agents present at the meeting, which will also include specific thematic conferences on innovation, connectivity and digitalisation applied to the fields of E-Health, industry, smart cities and the water cycle.

The Forum coincides with Sweden’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which has prioritised boosting cooperation in the single market to promote digital transformation and the green transition as allies to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness.

International investment

In addition to the participation of Finland and Sweden as guest countries, Transfiere 2023 is advancing its international agenda through the European Business Angels Network, EBAN, with actions aimed at boosting investment in projects at an early stage of development.

Thus, the meeting will feature the thematic round table ‘Technology transfer in the seed phase: European experiences’ moderated by Juan Álvarez de Lara, member of the Board of EBAN and Founder of Solvere Capital, and will count with the participation of Annukka Mickelsson, president of the Finnish Business Angels Network, FIBAN, and Magnus Eriksson, general partner of STOAF III SciTech. Likewise, Luis Castañeda, director of Axon Partners Group, CVC Fund of Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) and Erik Kolehmainen, vice president of Corporate Venturing of Metsä Spring, will take part in the panel ‘Corporate Venturing: driving technology transfer’, in which they will analyse this way of financing and promoting technology-based start-ups.

Transfiere is organised by the Malaga City Council, the Andalusian Knowledge Agency -depending on the Department of University, Research and Innovation of the Andalusian Regional Government- and the Ministry of Science and Innovation. FYCMA assumes the executive management of the Forum. The Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE), the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) -Ministry of Science and Innovation-, the Foundation for Technological Innovation COTEC, CRUE Spanish Universities, the General Foundation CSIC, the Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA), Enisa, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office -Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism- and Málaga TechPark are boosting the meeting.
